Grandma's Who's Who Challenge

Some clues are easy. A few might make you rummage through your memory. No prizes, no pressure — just a little Sunday fun.

1. One little word, seven letters, and a 1967 recording that became a demand heard everywhere: RESPECT. Name the Queen of Soul.

2. A pianist, singer and fearless truth-teller turned outrage into Mississippi Goddam. Who refused to keep quiet?

3. “Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud” filled the airwaves in 1968. Which Godfather of Soul was behind it?

4. From South Africa to the world, her voice carried Pata Pata and the realities of apartheid. Who was Mama Africa?

5. At the 1963 March on Washington, his dream became one of the decade's most remembered speeches. Name the speaker.

6. Quick feet, quick wit: this boxer claimed the heavyweight title in 1964 and announced a new name. Who was he?

7. “I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.” Which Mississippi voting-rights organizer challenged the powerful in 1964?

8. After his 1964 pilgrimage to Mecca, this activist's understanding of race and solidarity evolved. Name him.

9. Oakland, 1966: he and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panther Party. Who was his co-founder?

10. Brooklyn sent her to Congress in 1968. She became the first Black woman elected to the U.S. House. Name this trailblazer.
